Prestigious International Ranking for Department of Economics at UL

The CHE - Centre for Higher Education Development, in Germany, has recognised the Department of Economics, Kemmy Business School (KBS) at the University of Limerick (UL) as having achieved "Excellence Group" status in Economics. UL is one of only three Irish Universities to receive excellence group status this year and is placed alongside NUI Dublin (Economics) and Queen's University, Belfast (Political Science) in this category.

The CHE Excellence Ranking compares European universities across each subject and aims to highlight the research strengths and level of internationalisation among European higher education Institutions. The Economics Department at UL was selected for the award for it's outstanding achievements in citations and staff mobility.

European institutions are selected for analysis on the basis of four to six criteria (publications, citations, most-cited authors, Marie Curie programmes, offering of an Erasmus Mundus master's course, teaching staff mobility, student mobility, highly cited books). For these institutions, more detailed data have been acquired, such as information about faculties as well as about master and doctoral programmes.

The CHE ExcellenceRanking highlights the research strengths of European HEIs. It also gives those HEIs listed in the ranking useful ideas to further improve their already excellent programmes. In addition to the quantitative measurements, the CHE ExcellenceRanking also contains a great deal of additional information on master's or doctoral programmes, student opinions, research groups and research focal points of given departments as well as accommodation possibilities and study fees.

Well done UL!!!!!!!!!
